A DASH OF FUCK IT
“You know what you need Ryan, you need a dash of FUCK IT” – K. Jenny Jones
Jenny was my acting teacher freshman year of college at a conservatory I went to in Ohio. I was afraid. I heavily doubted my talent.
I’d get up in front of class and immediately K. Jenny would hound me: “Ryan, you need a dash of fuck it with a side of who cares.”
She was guiding me to get over what everyone else thought about me and my work. I had been so worried about being judged, not good enough, worse than the person who’d gone before me.
It turned out, I wasn’t a bad actor – heck, I booked a Broadway show the next year – I wasn’t bad, I was just so afraid of letting myself be seen. I was afraid of being authentic because I didn’t know that me, Ryan, is enough. Ryan is more than enough. He’s actually pretty interesting, loving and has something to say.
So “fuck it” became my mantra. Be afraid and act anyways. Leap and the net will appear. Add some “fuck it” to your life today and see what happens. Shine bright. Love big. You’re never too busy to love yourself. Loving you from here,
Our Morning Practice
- What are 5 things you can be grateful for this morning?
- Ask your inner guidance system these questions from A Course In Miracles: - Where would You have me go? - What would You have me do?
– What would You have me say? – And to whom?
The answers will show up as the day unfolds…if, and only if we ask the questions.
