Thank You

I was walking on the ocean yesterday, shocked by its power (literally smashing against the rocks) and found myself saying saying “Thank you”.

I thought of the Alice Walker quote: “Thank you is the best prayer that anyone could say. I say that one a lot.”

Saying thank you acknowledges all the good that IS happening in our lives. Even when the darkness, stress, and fear feels overwhelming, there is always something to point out as good.

And that’s the thing…if we can learn to focus on what is good and say thank you for that, it becomes our prayer that delivers us from pain to freedom.

Gratitude opens the doors to abundance. Saying thank you pulls focus from what’s not going well and trains our minds to see the blessings. As we shift our focus, we notice more goodness and before long there’s more going right than going wrong.

So, today, say thank you. If you see a beautiful sight, focus on it and say thank you. When you think of a friend you love, think of them and say thank you. When you eat a delicious bite of food, savor it and say thank you!

And on that note, thank YOU. I am grateful for you and for this community. It brightens my life. I love knowing that we are gathering to make better our lives and this world. Thank YOU for signing up to start your days with me. It’s the greatest gift in my life. THANK YOU.

MORNING PRACTICE
Take a few minutes to sit comfortably and close your eyes. Bring to mind a few blessings in your life. Focus on each one as you repeat today’s mantra: THANK YOU.

Shine bright. Love big. Thank YOU.
